A Year of Impact at YMCA Bellshill & Mossend

Communities Together Food Bank

I hope this message finds you well, and as we welcome another new year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we've had at our food bank in Bellshill. As the CEO of YMCA Bellshill & Mossend, I am honoured to share with you our experiences, accomplishments, and the unwavering support we've received from our community and partners.

Working alongside our dedicated team and passionate volunteers, I have personally witnessed the transformative power of compassion and unity. Our food bank at 294 Main St, Bellshill, is not just a place to collect groceries; it's a hub of hope, where lives are touched, and futures are brighter.

Throughout the past year, we've seen a remarkable increase in demand for our services. The stats speak volumes: nearly 700 parcels distributed, providing sustenance and relief to over 800 adults, over 300 children, and even 50 beloved pets. These numbers represent not just statistics but individuals and families within our community who have faced challenging times. Our foodbank has been a lifeline for them, offering a source of nourishment, comfort, and a caring community.

The heartwarming success of our Christmas hamper appeal truly exemplified the spirit of giving that prevails in Bellshill and Mossend. We were overwhelmed by the generous support from the community from local businesses, schools, churches, community clubs and individual supporters. Your contributions not only instilled a deep sense of appreciation but also ensured that we could extend our help to those in need during the festive season

During the festive period, we distributed over 170 parcels to over 500 people, ensuring that they could celebrate with the dignity and joy they deserve. None of this would have been possible without the dedication and tireless efforts of our amazing staff and volunteers.

Your commitment has been nothing short of awe-inspiring.

As we step into the new year, I am filled with hope and determination. Our food bank remains committed to serving the community, providing not just food but also a sense of belonging and support. Together, we can continue making a profound impact on the lives of those who turn to us in times of need.

In closing, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who have played a part in our journey. Whether you have volunteered, donated, or simply shared your encouragement, your contribution matters. Together, we are changing lives, one parcel, one smile, and one act of kindness at a time.

We are profoundly grateful for your steadfast support throughout this incredible journey.

As we look ahead, let's embrace another year dedicated to fostering compassion, strengthening our community, and creating a lasting impact.

With warmest regards,

The staff, management and board at the YMCA Bellshill & Mossend would like to give a huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland – Young Start for agreeing to fund our Y-Hang Out Youth Clubs for the next 3 years.

This is a huge boost for the young people in our community. Our youth clubs are a safe space for young people to learn, feel valued and most of all have fun! The funding will allow our youth clubs grow and continue to be an amazing place for our young people to thrive.
